About this deal

I eat quite a bit of beetroot, i’ve tried learning new things (knitting, sewing, painting etc), have learned how good getting out in the garden is, the joy of houseplants etc. We all want quick and easy ways to improve our health, but when it comes to diet, fitness and wellbeing it can be hard to sift the fads from the facts.

Emerging evidence suggests that unless you are doing 40 minutes of moderately vigorous exercise every single day, you cannot undo the damage that sitting causes. I hope you discover some exciting book reviews, enter a few giveaways and enjoy the bookish content here.

Born in Kolkata, India, the son of a bank director, Mosley studied philosophy, politics and economics at New College, Oxford before working for two years as a banker in the City of London. On a mission to find a drug-free way to ‘cure’ his diabetes, Michael Mosley tested a number of different forms of intermittent fasting before settling on the 5:2.

Still it's a nice little list of small changes you can easily make to your life and they're all suggestions rather than commandments. Dr Michael Mosley is a British TV presenter, producer, journalist and the author of bestselling health books such as The 8-Week Blood Sugar Diet and The Fast 800 Keto. Any time is a good time to begin a new habit or learn more about the body, but December / January seems - to me at least - to be the ultimate time of year for this type of book. Did you know that eating chocolate can help your heart, that singing can give you a natural 'high' and that having more house plants can improve your mood and boost your productivity? Instead of harping on the negatives, Dr Mosley highlights the benefits of standing for a few minutes at least once every hour. This unbiased review is from an uncorrected proof copy provided by NetGalley and Octopus Publishing.

I won’t be adopting all of the ‘Just one things’ but I will certainly be starting some of them - standing on one leg, intelligent exercises and eating dark chocolate to name three! I’d recommend the book for anyone interested in making small but easy lifestyle habits to improve your wellbeing. Fabulous book with tons of hands on and backed by science advice that can potentially extend our life span and make us not only cling onto life but age in health, strength and happiness. He first became interested in intermittent fasting when he discovered, through a random blood test, that he had type 2 diabetes. From the first few chapters you can say that it’s been written just to earn some cash for the author. I knew everything in this book already from reading Dr Julia Jones’ excellent trilogy on smart wellness, but this book acted as a good prompt/reminder for me and I’m going to make an effort to enact some of these changes.
